The 52B CONNstellation trumpet is filled with professional features that musicians have come to expect from Conn. The reversed leadpipe found on the 52B eliminates any air push back and therefore less resistance when playing. Reversed leadpipes also help with controlling the airflow and accuracy of pitch. Coupled with the single radius tuning slide, the Conn 52B has very little resistance resulting in a very open and free-blowing feel. The 52B also features the patented Modular Valve Weight (MVW) system that enables the musician to choose the type of response and feel that they want. The weighted valve caps can be attached in series to make any custom configuration for more or less weight in the sound. On the first and third valve slides there are finger saddles and a rod stop for easy movement to assure precise tuning.
The 52B CONNstellation is made from yellow brass because it provides a nice balance between the various playing parameters allowing the trumpet to be incredibly versatile. This is why yellow brass is the most widely used and commonly played alloy in the world. Once the 52B has been constructed, it is silver plated to add brightness to the sound while also keeping the instrument looking newer for longer. The valves in the Conn 52B trumpet are crafted from monel which is a nickel and copper alloy. The majority of premium trumpets have monel valves because it is very dense and is more resistant to corrosion, meaning they won't flake and are less likely to seize up.
